2. Product scope
Habiterra is an Earth and ocean exploration application for Meta Quest. The app may visualize planetary, atmospheric, oceanic and optional live-style traffic data layers.
3. Data categories
Depending on the implementation state and the features used, Habiterra may process the following categories of information:
- Technical app and device information required for operation, compatibility and debugging.
- Basic usage and interaction data needed to improve stability, usability and performance.
- Error logs and diagnostic data where required to identify faults.
- Optional third-party API credentials entered by the user for external services such as vessel or other live data providers.
4. Purpose of processing
- Providing the application and its interactive globe features.
- Displaying environmental, orbital and optional live traffic layers.
- Ensuring stability, compatibility and technical maintenance.
- Improving performance and troubleshooting faults.
5. External services
Habiterra can integrate third-party services for ships, aircraft, satellites, climate datasets or other external data layers. If such services are used, data requests may be transmitted to the respective provider. Those providers act under their own terms and privacy rules.
If users enter their own API keys, those keys are used only for the corresponding external service access within the product context.
6. Purchases and license verification
Premium features can be unlocked in two ways:
- Purchase on our website: payments are processed by Lemon Squeezy, LLC as merchant of record under its own terms and privacy policy. We do not receive or store payment card data. License keys entered on this site are validated against the issuing service solely to activate the license.
- In-app purchase on Meta Quest: the purchase itself is processed entirely by Meta under Meta's terms and privacy policy. To confirm ownership of the premium add-on, the app obtains the app-scoped user ID provided by Meta's platform interface and transmits it, over an encrypted connection, to our server, which verifies the entitlement directly with Meta's verification API. This ID is app-specific, is used exclusively for this one-time verification, is not stored beyond the verification request, is not combined with any other data, and is never shared with third parties.
7. Cookies and local storage
After a successful unlock, a single functional cookie (habiterra_license, lifetime up to one year) stores the license state so the premium features remain available. It contains no personal data and is not used for tracking, analytics or advertising. App settings (such as language, sound and optional API keys) are kept in the browser's local storage on the device and never leave it.
8. Storage and retention
Data is limited to what is necessary for operation, support and improvement. Locally stored information can generally be removed by clearing app data or uninstalling the application. Server-side diagnostic data, if collected, should only be retained as long as operationally necessary.
9. User rights
Users may request information about personal data processing or request deletion of stored personal data where applicable. Requests can be sent to [email protected].
10. Changes
This Privacy Policy may be updated as Habiterra evolves. The latest published version on this site is the authoritative version for the current product state.
